24 october 2007 I will leave the Netherlands again. Destination? Brazil thats for sure! But where in brazil..? Is that also predictable? For about for years now allready i have a great desire to help in this city against the great needs that although they are covered up so nicely in the beautifull suroundings still are extremely visable every day. Rio de Janeiro the city of over a hundred slums and the shining vife star hotels. Where the richest are neighbours with the poorest.
For about 4 months i will work voluntarely in one of the bases of YWAM(Youth With A Mission) This base has its location right in the middle of a Slum called "Complexo do Alemao". So also the work that i will be doing will be focussed on the people of the neighbourhood. As job description you can think of together with my team organising activeties for the children and the youth. Next to that they asked me if i could be an english teacher. These two functions combined must create a space in wich i can build new friendship. And through those friendships i will ba able to to invest in these young peoples lives.
I will be working in this slum for four months until around the end of februari 2008
